New Carpet Before You List Your House in Las Vegas

Selling a home means a long to-do list and a short clock. Photos get booked, buyers walk through, and tired carpet shows up in every picture. New carpet is one of the faster fixes on that list. Here's how to approach it so you end up with a clean, neutral look without redoing rooms you don't have to.

A weekend walk-in and a Wednesday install

A customer told this story in a Google review better than we could. They walked into our showroom on a weekend looking for carpet for two bedrooms and an office to get their house ready to sell. They were trying to save money, so we brought up remnants right away. The carpet was installed the following Wednesday. They called it good value and great service.

That's about the pace we aim for. As a rule, carpet installations happen within a week of ordering, which makes carpet a good fit when your listing date is close and the calendar is not on your side.

What a remnant is, and when it works

A remnant is a leftover piece from a roll of carpet. It's already cut to a size that's on hand, which is why it can be an economical choice for a bedroom, an office, a closet or another small room. The catch is availability. A remnant only works if the piece is big enough to cover the room in one go, and the color and style are whatever happens to be on the shelf that week.

If you're flexible on color, ask what we have in remnants for your room sizes before you look at full rolls. Larger rooms and open living areas usually need a full roll, and you'll get better results there than by trying to piece things together.

Choosing carpet that sells the room

When you're selling, you aren't picking carpet for your own taste. You're picking it for a stranger walking through with a phone. Quiet colors in the beige, greige and soft gray range tend to let buyers picture their own furniture. Save the bold choices for your next home.

We carry carpet from Abbey, Mohawk, Shaw, Karastan and Dreamweaver, so there's range from simple and budget-minded to plush and textured. Our carpet selection includes soft bedroom styles, long-lasting options for busy areas and spill-resistant styles for family spaces. You're welcome to bring a photo of the room, or we can come to you with our mobile showroom so you can judge samples against your own walls and light.

A simple pre-listing carpet checklist

  • Walk every room in daylight and note stains, worn paths and flattened spots.
  • Start with the bedrooms and the rooms buyers see first.
  • Replace carpet only where it hurts, and think about hard flooring in rooms that take a beating.
  • Pick one neutral color family so the whole house feels consistent.
  • Book the install before your photographer or first open house, not after.

Timing around photos and showings

Work backward from your listing date. Schedule the estimate first, choose your carpet, and let us set an install day. Because carpet goes in quickly, the work can happen after you've cleared out small items and before the photographer arrives.

If the house is vacant or staged, furniture moving is simple. If you still live there, tell us what's in each room. We do the heavy lifting, and we ask that you box up small items, breakables and sentimental items. Clear a path to the room, and unplug any electronics near the carpet. A few minutes of prep keeps install day smooth. If your listing date is tight, mention it when you call, so we can talk through what is realistic before you commit to a color or a style.

What to ask about

  • How much of each room can a remnant cover, and what colors are on hand right now?
  • What does the quote include? Our carpet quotes cover the carpet, pad, labor, removal of the old carpet and furniture moving.
  • How soon after I order can the crew come out?
  • What warranty comes with the install? Ours is 2 years on the installation, plus the manufacturer warranty on the carpet.

Our estimates are free and come with no obligation, so there's no cost to finding out what's possible before your listing goes live. You can read about the options on the carpet page on our site, under /services, or call (702) 658-6008 and we'll get someone out to measure.
